Description
ZWO Seestar S30 Pro All-in-One Smart Telescope
The ZWO Seestar S30 Pro brings smart astronomy and astrophotography together in a compact, easy-to-use system. Designed for beginners and experienced astronomy enthusiasts alike, this intelligent telescope combines an apochromatic optical system, two high-resolution cameras, an automated tracking mount, and powerful onboard image processing. Whether you want to explore deep-sky objects, photograph the Milky Way, capture wide-field celestial scenes, or observe the Sun with its included solar filter, the S30 Pro makes it easier to get impressive results without the complexity of a traditional astrophotography setup.

Unlike conventional telescopes that require separate cameras, mounts, and imaging accessories, the Seestar S30 Pro integrates its essential imaging and tracking systems into one portable instrument. Simply set it up, connect to the Seestar app, and let its automated functions help you locate, track, capture, and process your targets.
Advanced Apochromatic Optics with ED Glass
At the heart of the S30 Pro is a 30mm apochromatic optical system with a 160mm focal length and a focal ratio of f/5.3. Its four-element lens design incorporates extra-low dispersion (ED) glass to help control chromatic aberration and reduce unwanted color fringing. This contributes to sharper, more natural-looking images, particularly when photographing bright stars and other high-contrast celestial objects.
The optical system is designed to deliver detailed images while maintaining the compact dimensions that make the S30 Pro easy to transport and set up. It offers an accessible way to explore astrophotography without having to assemble a complicated collection of optical and mechanical components.
Dual 4K Camera System
One of the S30 Pro's most distinctive features is its dual-camera architecture. It combines two 8.3-megapixel Sony sensors, each with a resolution of 2160 × 3840 pixels, to cover different types of imaging.
The telephoto camera uses the Sony IMX585 sensor and works with the 30mm apochromatic optical system. It is designed for photographing the Moon, deep-sky objects, and other celestial targets that benefit from greater magnification and detail.
The wide-angle camera uses the Sony IMX586 sensor and a separate 3.4mm lens with an f/1.75 focal ratio. Its expansive 63° field of view is ideal for capturing broad sections of the sky, including the Milky Way and large celestial scenes. With both cameras integrated into one instrument, the S30 Pro offers considerably more flexibility than a telescope equipped with a single imaging camera.

Automated GoTo and Intelligent Tracking
Finding celestial objects can be challenging, particularly for newcomers to astronomy. The Seestar S30 Pro simplifies this process with automated GoTo positioning and tracking.
Through the Seestar mobile app, users can browse an extensive catalogue of astronomical targets and select an object to observe or photograph. The telescope automatically points toward the selected target and tracks its apparent movement across the sky, helping keep it within the camera's field of view during imaging sessions.
This automated workflow reduces the need for manual alignment and constant adjustments, allowing users to spend more time exploring the night sky and capturing images.
Dedicated Milky Way Photography Mode
The S30 Pro is not limited to traditional telescope-style imaging. Its wide-angle camera and dedicated Milky Way mode make it particularly useful for wide-field night-sky photography.
This mode uses AI-powered image processing to distinguish the sky from foreground elements, helping users create images that combine the Milky Way with landscapes and other terrestrial scenery. It opens up creative possibilities beyond conventional deep-sky astrophotography, making the S30 Pro a versatile tool for both astronomy and nightscape photography.
8K Panoramic and Mosaic Imaging
For capturing larger areas of the sky than a single frame can cover, the S30 Pro supports panoramic and mosaic imaging with image stitching at resolutions of up to 8K.
This feature allows users to create expansive images of celestial regions by combining multiple exposures. It is particularly useful for photographing large astronomical targets and wide sections of the night sky that extend beyond the camera's individual field of view.
Intelligent Image Processing
Capturing astronomical images is only part of the process. The S30 Pro also includes intelligent image-processing tools designed to improve the final results.
Its processing capabilities include AI-powered noise reduction, dynamic background extraction, and automatic image enhancement. These functions help reduce unwanted image noise, address uneven background illumination, and bring out details in captured objects.
Much of this processing is integrated into the Seestar imaging workflow, reducing the need for users to rely on complicated external image-editing software.
Three Built-in Imaging Filters
The Seestar S30 Pro incorporates three built-in filters to support different imaging conditions and targets:
-
UV/IR-Cut Filter: Blocks ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths outside the desired visible-light imaging range.
-
Duo-Band Filter: Features OIII 30nm and Hα 20nm bandpasses to enhance the contrast of emission nebulae by isolating important emission wavelengths.
In addition to these built-in filters, the S30 Pro comes with an external magnetic solar filter for solar observation and photography. The magnetic attachment makes it convenient to install and remove when switching between solar and nighttime imaging.
Important: The solar filter is included in the package but is not one of the three built-in imaging filters.
- Automatic Dark-Frame Calibration: The Seestar S30 Pro supports automatic dark-frame calibration to help reduce unwanted sensor noise, hot pixels, and thermal signal in astronomical images. By capturing and using dark calibration frames, the system helps improve image quality, particularly during longer imaging sessions.
Equatorial Mode for Long-Exposure Astrophotography
Although the S30 Pro features an alt-azimuth mount, it also supports Equatorial Mode. When properly configured with suitable accessories and accurate polar alignment, this mode allows exposures of up to 60 seconds.
Equatorial tracking helps compensate for the apparent rotation of the night sky, reducing field rotation during longer exposures. This is especially useful when capturing faint deep-sky objects that require longer exposure times.
Built-in Battery and Generous Storage
The S30 Pro is equipped with a rechargeable 6000mAh battery and 128GB of internal eMMC storage. Its battery provides up to approximately six hours of operation, depending on usage and operating conditions.
The generous internal storage provides room for captured photographs and imaging data without requiring an external storage device. USB Type-C connectivity supports charging and data transfer, while Wi-Fi and Bluetooth provide wireless communication with the mobile app.
Compact, Portable, and Ready to Explore
Weighing approximately 1.65kg and measuring just 210 × 140 × 80mm, the Seestar S30 Pro is designed for convenient transportation. Its compact all-in-one construction integrates the optical system, cameras, mount, tracking mechanism, and onboard electronics into a single instrument.
The included tripod provides a ready-to-use mounting solution, while the carrying case makes transportation and storage easier. Whether you are observing from your backyard, travelling to a dark-sky location, or enjoying a night of astrophotography with friends and family, the S30 Pro is designed to make the experience straightforward and enjoyable.
