Description
MAGUS Lum 400L Fluorescence Microscope Description
The MAGUS Lum 400L Fluorescence Microscope supports both fluorescence microscopy in reflected light and brightfield microscopy in transmitted light. With additional accessories, it can also perform research using polarized light, darkfield, and phase contrast techniques. This versatile microscope is ideal for research and laboratory diagnostics across various fields, including medicine, pharmacology, forensics, biotechnology, and veterinary medicine.
Optics
The microscope features a trinocular head with two eyepiece tubes for observations and a trinocular tube for mounting a digital camera (not included). The eyepiece tubes, inclined at 30°, are 360° rotatable and adjustable for observer comfort during extended use.
The microscope includes a revolving nosepiece with five objective slots, containing four infinity plan achromatic objectives: three for brightfield and one for fluorescence (fluo) techniques. An additional slot is available for an optional objective, enhancing magnification capabilities. The revolving nosepiece is designed for easy visibility of the inserted objective in the optical path.
Illumination
The microscope is equipped with four 5W LEDs for reflected light, each operating at specific wavelengths: blue (B), green (G), violet (V), and ultraviolet (UV). These LEDs provide bright and efficient illumination, quickly switching between brightfield and fluorescence modes. LEDs have a long lifespan of 50,000 hours and do not require a heat sink, making them safe and easy to maintain.
For transmitted light, the microscope uses a 3W LED with a similar 50,000-hour lifespan. The illumination system includes a condenser with slots for darkfield and phase contrast sliders, enabling quick changes in microscopy techniques without replacing the condenser. Köhler illumination can be set up for both transmitted and reflected light, ensuring sharp focus, minimal image artifacts, and high-resolution imaging.
Stage and Focusing Mechanism
The stage features a removable specimen holder for manual scanning and lacks a positioning rack, requiring less workspace. A black stage plate can be installed to eliminate stray light from the transmitted light source during reflected light observations. Coaxial coarse and fine focusing knobs, with a lock knob and tension adjustment, are located on both sides of the microscope base for precise focusing.
Accessories
The MAGUS Lum 400L microscope is compatible with a wide range of accessories, enhancing its capabilities. These include eyepieces, additional objectives, and devices for darkfield, polarized light, and phase contrast microscopy, as well as digital cameras and calibration slides.
