Description

Well, you feel like having a small observatory in your backyard. You don’t want to go through all the complications of setting up traditional telescopes but still aim to enjoy both astrogazing and astrophotography. Celestron Origin will be your perfect yet user-friendly Intelligent Home Observatory, transforming your backyard into a gateway to the cosmos. Capturing the beauty of celestial objects and bringing them to life on your smartphone or tablet is now possible with the cutting-edge technology packed into this smart telescope.

RASA Optical Technology: Pioneering Astrophotography
Celestron Origin makes use of Celestron’s patented Rowe-Ackermann Schmidt Astrograph (RASA) technology. This patent, introduced in 2014, revolutionized optics with its ultra-fast f/2.2 design and wide field of view. In this design, the imaging sensor is placed at the front of the telescope tube for sharp, edge-to-edge images. Since then, RASA has been trusted by national defense, researchers, and governments, excelling in space surveillance and satellite tracking.

The Celestron Origin utilizes a compact 6” RASA telescope. It delivers observatory-grade performance in a portable package. Paired with the Sony IMX178 CMOS sensor, featuring STARVIS back-illuminated technology, it ensures high sensitivity, low noise, and exceptional resolution—ideal for capturing clear, detailed images with short exposure times.

Turning Every Backyard Observer into an Astroimager
Celestron Origin captures and processes data in real time using built-in AI algorithms. Unlike generative AI, this technology enhances images without altering or adding data, ensuring the final output is entirely your own. Real-time sharpening and optimization produce stunning celestial images rich in color and detail. Additionally, manual controls allow for further adjustments. Thus, this innovation makes astroimaging accessible to all, even beginners.

A Universe at Your Fingertips: StarSense Technology & the Origin App
Thanks to StarSense technology, setting up Origin is effortless. Place it outside, power it on, and connect to the SkySafari™-powered Origin app. It takes less than two minutes for the telescope to align itself using an internal star database, and then it is ready for exploration.

The intuitive planetarium interface of the app lets users easily navigate the sky, select targets, and view “Tonight’s Best” celestial objects visible at their location and time. The steps are quite simple. Once a target is selected, Origin centers it, captures 10-second exposures, and displays results in real time as details accumulate, thanks to the built-in AI algorithms which process live-stacked images. The advanced tracking and dew prevention system of the telescope ensures sharp, high-quality images.

Sharing the Cosmic Exploration
Origin allows multiple users to connect and stream on their own devices, fostering a sense of community while exploring the night sky together. This can happen while you are in the same room or gathered outside, as you can also cast the live view to your smart TV.

Advanced Features
There are also more advanced features and functionalities as you grow in your exploration with Origin. Built-in filter drawers accepting standard 1.25” and 2” format filters for imaging in light-polluted areas, raw image storage for manual processing and more advanced editing, and scheduled observations enhance its versatility. Future upgrades, including compatibility with guiding systems and long-exposure imaging, promise even greater possibilities.

Gain a New Perspective Here on Earth
In addition to night sky astrogazing and astroimaging, Origin can also capture incredible views of land-based objects on Earth. During the day, you can manually slew Origin to capture landscapes and scenery. At night, Origin’s fast optics and sensitive camera allow you to see things in very dim ambient conditions for almost night vision-like performance.

Portability and Versatility
Compact and lightweight, Origin is portable and easy to assemble, and it doesn’t need external WiFi networks. These features make it ideal for trips to remote dark-sky locations.

Complete Observatory in a Box
With the Origin system, you have a complete instrument with everything you need to become an instant astronomer:

  • 6” RASA optical tube with integrated camera
  • Origin single fork-arm mount with internal lithium battery
  • Built-in computer with cooling fans and WiFi
  • Autofocuser
  • Dew prevention system with environmental sensor, dew heater ring, and dew shield

Future-Proof Design
Our technical team of engineers is working on upcoming developments and enhancements for your Origin. For instance, access to Origin’s camera is provided for potential future upgrades as technology improves.

Additionally, in the upcoming months, look forward to these new features:

  • StarSense Autoguider Compatibility: Integration with StarSense for enhanced tracking precision.
  • Wedge Compatibility: Pair Origin with the Wedge for NexStar Evolution and SE 6/8, unlocking advanced imaging capabilities.
