The Sky-Watcher Heliostar 76Hα is a dedicated Hydrogen-alpha solar telescope designed to uncover the dynamic and ever-changing nature of our closest star. Unlike white-light solar scopes that show only sunspots, this advanced instrument isolates the H-alpha wavelength (656.28nm), revealing stunning features such as solar prominences, filaments, sunspots, and flares—all in breathtaking contrast and detail.
At the heart of the Heliostar 76Hα is its 76mm aperture and 630mm focal length (f/8.3), striking an ideal balance between resolution and portability. It uses an achromatic doublet optical design, combined with H-alpha-optimized, fully multicoated lenses, to produce crisp, high-contrast solar images. Optical quality meets 1/4-wave diffraction-limited standards, ensuring each view is as sharp and clear as the laws of physics allow.
Thanks to Solis Etalon Technology, this telescope achieves a bandpass narrower than 0.5Å—the kind of contrast typically found only in expensive double-stack systems, yet with the simplicity, brightness, and affordability of a single-etalon design. The Trifid Tuning System allows users to finely tune the etalon, adjusting for Doppler shifts caused by solar motion and ensuring precise, contrast-rich views at all times.
Engineered for safety and performance, the Heliostar 76Hα is ISO 12312-2:2015 certified and features integrated safety filters that block harmful UV, infrared, and excess heat. An 11.5mm blocking filter, built into the 1.25" diagonal, limits the light to a safe and visually optimized level.
A durable aluminum optical tube (just 3.8kg) with internal baffling minimizes stray light and maximizes contrast. The 2" dual-speed Crayford focuser allows fine focus adjustments, perfect for both visual observation and high-resolution solar imaging. It comes complete with mounting rings, a Vixen-style dovetail bar, and a compact 600mm tube length—making setup quick and transport easy.
This comprehensive solar observing kit includes a 20mm 70° eyepiece for full-disc views, a smartphone adapter for quick and easy imaging, a clip-on sunshade to reduce glare, a Heliostar solar finder, and a hard-shell carry case to protect your gear on the go.
