Description
Accurate timing is essential in many photography scenarios, such as tracking celestial objects or conducting precise scientific experiments, where recording both exact timing and location data are crucial. For applications that require such precision, the Kepler camera offers high timing accuracy. When directly connected to a computer, the Kepler cameras deliver a time precision of 1 millisecond.
To enhance this accuracy further, the Kepler Image Time Stamp (KITS) has been developed, improving timing precision to 1.5 microseconds. This remarkable precision is achieved when the embedded antenna and receiver are locked onto GPS or GLONASS satellite signals. Through this connection, users can accurately record both the start time and the exact duration of an exposure. The initial time, latitude, and longitude are then logged in the image’s FITS header, ensuring that every capture is precisely documented.
