Description

Sky-Watcher Heritage 150 Tabletop Dobsonian Telescope

The Sky-Watcher Heritage 150 Tabletop Dobsonian Telescope combines a large 150 mm aperture, fast f/5 Newtonian optics, and a highly portable collapsible design to deliver impressive astronomical performance in a compact package. Designed around a simple manual Dobsonian mount, the Heritage 150 is easy to set up and operate while providing enough aperture to explore the Moon, planets, star clusters, nebulae, and many other deep-sky objects.

150 mm Parabolic Newtonian Optics

At the heart of the Heritage 150 is a 150 mm Newtonian reflector with a 750 mm focal length and f/5 focal ratio. The large aperture provides strong light-gathering capability while the fast optical system offers a relatively wide field of view, making the telescope well suited to both lunar and planetary observation and wide-field deep-sky viewing.

The borosilicate parabolic primary mirror uses Sky-Watcher's proprietary Radiant Aluminum Quartz (RAQ™) coating, with 94% reflectivity. The parabolic mirror is designed to provide sharp, detailed images from this fast f/5 optical system. Sky-Watcher states that the Heritage 150 collects 44% more light than the Heritage 130, giving it a useful increase in light-gathering capability.

Excellent for Lunar and Planetary Observation

The 150 mm aperture provides detailed views of the Moon and planets, allowing observers to explore lunar craters and surface features as well as prominent planetary details under suitable atmospheric conditions.

The Heritage 150 includes two 1.25" SUPER eyepieces. The 25 mm eyepiece provides 30× magnification, while the 10 mm eyepiece provides 75× magnification. Additional compatible eyepieces can be used to explore a broader range of magnifications, with the specified useful range extending from approximately 21× to 295×, depending on observing conditions and accessories.

Explore Deep-Sky Objects

With its 150 mm aperture and fast f/5 focal ratio, the Heritage 150 is particularly well suited to observing a wide variety of deep-sky targets. Open star clusters, globular clusters, brighter nebulae, galaxies, and rich Milky Way star fields can all be explored with this telescope.

The combination of a large aperture and relatively short focal ratio provides a useful balance between light-gathering ability and field of view, making the Heritage 150 a versatile visual astronomy telescope.

Collapsible Optical Tube

One of the most distinctive features of the Heritage 150 is its collapsible optical tube. The tube retracts from approximately 48 inches to 16.75 inches, making the telescope substantially easier to transport and store.

When extended for observation, the telescope provides its full 750 mm focal length. The collapsible FlexTube-style design is engineered to retain optical alignment (collimation) when extended, allowing the telescope to combine a relatively large aperture with a compact storage and transport size.

Simple Tabletop Dobsonian Mount

The Heritage 150 uses a manual tabletop Dobsonian mount with an intuitive alt-azimuth design. This allows the telescope to be pointed and moved naturally across the sky without the complicated setup required by an equatorial mount.

The mount uses Teflon™ bearings for smooth movement and includes an altitude locking knob to help provide steady positioning during observation. The base also features skid-resistant, vibration-suppressing rubber feet, helping improve stability when the telescope is placed on a suitable solid surface.

1.25" Helical Focuser

The Heritage 150 is equipped with a 1.25-inch helical focuser, providing precise focusing adjustment while maintaining the compact design of the optical tube. It accepts standard 1.25-inch astronomy accessories, allowing users to expand the telescope with additional compatible eyepieces and accessories.

Included Eyepieces and Finder

The telescope comes ready for observation with two 1.25-inch SUPER eyepieces:

  • 25 mm eyepiece: 30× magnification
  • 10 mm eyepiece: 75× magnification

A red dot finder is also included to make locating and centering astronomical objects easier before observing them through the main telescope.

Compact and Portable Astronomy Telescope

Despite its 150 mm aperture, the Heritage 150 is designed with portability in mind. The collapsible optical tube dramatically reduces the telescope's length for transportation and storage, making it particularly practical for observers who want to take a relatively large-aperture telescope to darker skies.

The optical tube weighs approximately 8 lb (3.63 kg) with accessories, while the Dobsonian base weighs approximately 15.5 lb (7.03 kg).

A Versatile Telescope for Astronomy Enthusiasts

The Sky-Watcher Heritage 150 Tabletop Dobsonian Telescope offers a strong combination of aperture, optical performance, portability, and ease of use. Its 150 mm parabolic primary mirror provides 44% more light-gathering capability than the 130 mm model, while the fast f/5 optical system makes it well suited to both wide-field and deep-sky observation.

With its 150 mm parabolic mirror, 94% reflective RAQ™ coating, collapsible optical tube, tabletop Dobsonian mount, Teflon™ bearings, 1.25" helical focuser, red dot finder, and two included eyepieces, the Heritage 150 provides a capable visual astronomy setup in a compact and transport-friendly design.

Why Choose the Sky-Watcher Heritage 150?

The Sky-Watcher Heritage 150 combines a relatively large aperture with a compact, portable design. Its 150 mm parabolic mirror and fast f/5 optics provide strong performance for both planetary and deep-sky observation, while the collapsible tube makes the telescope convenient to transport and store.
