The Celestron Advanced VX 8" EdgeHD brings together Celestron’s premium flat-field optical design and their most versatile German equatorial mount. EdgeHD: Premium, Flat-Field Optics

The 8" EdgeHD optical system is designed to produce crisp, pinpoint stars across the entire image circle, even on large modern sensors. Its optics correct for both coma and field curvature, giving you sharp, well-focused results whether you’re observing planets or photographing deep-sky targets.
You can also choose between several imaging configurations:

• f/10 (native) for high-resolution detail
• f/7 with an optional reducer for faster deep-sky imaging
• f/2 with a compatible HyperStar/FASTAR system for ultra-fast exposures

This flexibility makes the EdgeHD 8" one of the most adaptable optical tubes available in its class.

Advanced VX Mount: Portable, Capable, and Imaging-Ready

The Advanced VX (AVX) mount is engineered to deliver reliable tracking and accurate pointing without the weight and price of larger equatorial systems. Its 30 lb payload capacity easily supports the EdgeHD 8" optical tube along with common accessories such as an autoguider, camera, and electronic focuser.

Astrophotographers benefit from key features such as permanently programmable periodic error correction, an autoguider port, multiple alignment routines, and the ability to image across the meridian. The AVX also works seamlessly with Celestron’s CPWI control software for advanced pointing models and computer-based control.

Smart Design for Observers and Imagers

Despite its capabilities, the AVX remains compact and practical for transport. The mount includes a robust 2" stainless steel tripod for improved stability, and a dual saddle plate compatible with CG-5 and CGE-style dovetails as well as Vixen-format plates longer than 100 mm.
